Secure Calendar Sync - IT Admin Guide

Updated 1 day ago

Introduction

Greetings IT! In this short guide, we'll walk through the SlashExperts' calendar synchronization process. You'll see firsthand our robust security protocols, industry-standard compliance, and best practices that safeguard your organization's calendar data throughout the integration.

Security & Authentication Overview

At SlashExperts, we understand your concerns about third-party access to your organization's calendars. Our booking system uses standard OAuth 2.0 authentication protocols when connecting to Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook. This ensures:

  • No passwords are ever stored by SlashExperts

  • Users authenticate directly with Google or Microsoft

  • Access tokens are encrypted and securely stored

  • Permissions are specifically scoped to calendar functionality only

Permission Scopes

SlashExperts requests limited access to:

  • View and edit events on the user's calendars

This scope is necessary to:

  1. Check availability for scheduling expert conversations

  2. Create and manage booking events

  3. Prevent double-booking of your experts

We never request access to email content, contacts, or other sensitive data outside of calendar events.

Industry Standards & Compliance

SlashExperts' calendar integration follows all Google and Microsoft developer guidelines and security best practices:

  • Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+

  • OAuth token rotation and secure handling

  • Regular security audits and compliance checks

  • GDPR and SOC 2 compliant processes

Setting Up Calendar Access

To connect a calendar:

  1. The user signs in directly with their Google/Microsoft account

Snapshot

  1. Clear permission screens show exactly what access is granted

Snapshot

  1. Users can revoke access at any time through their Google/Microsoft account settings

IT Administrator Approval

You can safely approve requests from SlashExperts. When approving these requests from your teams:

  • Verify the request comes from SlashExperts.com domain

  • Confirm the permission scopes match what I've shown today

  • Rest assured that calendar data is only used for scheduling purposes

By approving SlashExperts calendar access, you're enabling your team to efficiently manage expert bookings while maintaining your organization's security standards. If you have any additional questions about our security practices or need custom deployment assistance, our team is available at help@slashexperts.com.

Thank you for supporting your team's use of SlashExperts!
